Just a few steps below the archaeological site of Ancient Asini, between Tolo and Drepano, lies one of the quieter and most atmospheric beaches in the region: Ancient Asini Beach. Nestled beneath the striking hill of Kastraki, this place uniquely combines swimming and archaeology – here the sea meets the traces of a settlement that is thousands of years old.
Even on arrival, its special location is evident: behind the beach rises the rocky peninsula of the ancient acropolis, while in front of you the clear waters of the Argolic Gulf open up. The atmosphere is noticeably calmer than on the larger beaches of Tolo, with an almost timeless mix of nature, stone, and sea.

A great spot for swimming and snorkeling. Sea urchins can be found here in places, so you should bring water shoes.
This beach gets sun for a particularly long time, so you should apply plenty of sunscreen.
There is a very good restaurant above the beach. You can also order snacks directly to your sunbed.
Visiting the beach
The beach itself is small, partly pebbly, and overall feels natural and unspoiled. The water is clear and often pleasantly deep, making it especially suitable for peaceful swimming or short breaks in the water. Despite its location right next to an important archaeological site, the place usually remains relatively uncrowded and retains its relaxed character.
Along the beach, you will find simple facilities such as sun loungers, a few tavernas, and parking options, making it easy to combine a visit with a stay in Tolo or a tour of the ruins of Ancient Asini.
Between ruins and coastal calm
What makes this place special is its immediate proximity to history: above the beach lie the remains of the ancient acropolis of Asini, with its walls and settlement traces dating back to Mycenaean times.
Anyone swimming here or sitting on the shore experiences a rare contrast: the soft sound of the waves, the rocky slopes of Kastraki, and the idea of an ancient city that once stood exactly above this stretch of coast. As a result, Ancient Asini Beach is less of a classic seaside resort and more of a small in-between space of nature and history – quiet, simple, and impressive.
