A visit to the excavation site
The archaeological site lies on a small peninsula right next to Tolo beach and combines impressive history with an exceptional seaside location. As soon as you enter the grounds, you notice the special calm of this place: cicadas in the trees, warm wind from the water, and the atmosphere of past millennia accompany every step.
The excavations reveal traces of different eras of Greece – from Mycenaean walls to Hellenistic remains and Venetian fortifications. Especially fascinating is the mix of nature and history: wild herbs grow among the old stones, while below the site small coves and turquoise water stretch out.

Asine was already mentioned in Homer’s “Iliad” and is among the most important ancient settlements in Argolis. On a walk through the site, visitors discover old city walls, foundations of ancient buildings, and elevated viewpoints with wide views over the sea to the surrounding islands.
